Masthead Ideas

This Vox pop shows that 50% of the people I asked preferred Bang! and the other half preferred Bullet. I have decided to use Bullet as my music magazine as i think that it suites the genre more than Bang and is a memorable masthead.

Bang! Research shows 3/6 people prefer Bang!Short and sharp which will attract customers.

Bullet Short and sharp. Research shows 3/6 people prefer Bullet. Reflects attitude and possibly a violent feel which can be related to the rock genre. Links to a rebellious, rough, hardcore atmosphere which is reflected in the target audience and Rock genre. Doesn't relate to music which means that some people may get confused about what the magazine is about.

Music Note Relates to music which helps the audience to easily identify that it is a music magazine. Doesn't relate to the indie/ Rock genre. And Refers more to classical music which will not appeal to the target audience.

Mayhem Reflects atmosphere of chaos, attitude and rebellion which is related to the rock genre and target audience. Common name. And doesn't stand out which will not attract the target audience which means that they will be more likely to be attracted to rival magazines.

Buzz Short, sharp, easy for audience to remember. Eye catching which will attract the audience and encourage them to look more into the magazine and see what its about. Doesn't relate to music or Rock genre which will confuse the audience and not inform them that it is an indie/ rock magazine.

These are the possible fonts/ typography for my masthead. I prefer the first type as it looks rough and reflects a military theme which connotes bravery, toughness and fighting which relates to the interests of my target audience. However i also like the second masthead in the second column as this relates to the lexis 'Bullet' because of the bullet holes in the writing. It is also bold and easy to read which will stand out on a front cover and attract the eye of my target audience.
